Thursday was Barries last night in Bali and he invited Sean, Ika and I to join him and Candika for dinner. His choice of restaurant was Ketupat in Legian that serves a selection of Indonesian food. This place was Barries choice because it strongly projects Indonesian culture in its design and menu.
We all dined inside a pool-side bale and I could imagine myself at a remote village somewhere in Bali. I could tell Barrie was sad to leave and I wish I did more things with him this time around. He flies back to Perth and Candika back to Yogyakarta today.
Having studied Indonesian culture and having lived for over a decade in Java Barrie has amassed more knowledge on the country than most Indonesians and westerners that claim to be experts. He told us about living in Java where he would go for an adventure and write about it just for the enjoyment. Being adventurous by nature has a ton of memories.
I look forward to working more with Barrie and hope he can get over to Bali on a more permanent level.
