Gong xi fa chai from Tejakula Bali

Gong xi fa chai (Gong hay fa choy) means happy new year in Chinese. Today is Chinese New Year and many visitors are expected in Bali. Singaporeans, Malaysians and Chinese Indonesians from the big cities in Java. The weather isn’t the greatest, but Bali is a fun place to come, eat, drink and be merry.

The Jakarta Post talks about osme of the things going on in Bali for those wanting to sample Chinese New Year and it food.

I am on the NE coast right now at Poincianna Bungalows with Ika and Jevon. If you want Chinese food in the Kuta area check out Jl. Raya Tuban ,close to the airport. When I lived in Hong Kong I remember Chinese New Year being a closed door holiday, rather like Christmas, which means if you know people its great, otherwise the whole place is dead. Bali will not be shut down, and the people coming will get great deals on goods and find locals eager to please.

Here’s a page with some Cantonese Chinese eating options in Bali.
