Today is a beautiful sunny day in Seminyak Bali. As I type Wayan is cleaning the bedroom floor with a mop and a pirate Colombian music CD is playing. I am about to hit the road for Ubud, not just for a day but for a few days. My task: document more fully the guest houses, museums and things that visitors want. Flying visits are good but I really need to stay for a while and 'pound the pavement'.
Its exciting because has internet access, plenty of cheap guesthouses and many small nooks and crannies to explore. The surrounding villages like Penestenan and Campuhan have there own variety of art, accommodation and restaurants too.
Ubud is usually the place first time visitors to Bali head for when they want a 'get out of Kuta' experience. Its cool, relaxing and art focused, no surf though.

Brandon with Java Jive is also in Ubud now, and you might visit his website and send him a quick message. You two guys should meet each. Also, I got a message from Dalton last week. He’s on the East Coast for at least 6 months, waiting for the birth of his new child, and guarantee American citizenship.

Hi Nick,
I was in Bali with a couple of friends from 21/6 to 30/6 and spend 4 nights in Ubud. I did a lot of browsing before i stumbled to the baliblog site which has given me most of the info which i needed about places around Bali. Thanks!
I had a wonderful time in Ubud and stayed at a reasonably cheap clean losman close to the market. Thanks again dude…
