Sunday means people generally have more time to hang out so today I sent out a few sms’s to people offering a bbq at my place.
So far we’ve got Palu and friends, Lisa and Lenny from Java, Mark from New York and Miguel from California. Too bad Mick isn’t around anymore.
I did some serious running around at noon today for plates, glasses, knives and forks. The top floor of Bintang supermarket got me sorted out and now I have to get the food and drinks organized. Laurel is coming back from the Gili’s today supposedly so it might be a nice suprise for her.
The expat scene in Bali means you can find almost anything if you look hard enough. The Weber grill I picked up at Ace Hardware and the plates today were 2,500rp each. I picked up 8 glasses plus 2 shot glasses as I know Palu likes vodka.
A bag of coconut husks is on my list too and with the help of Lisa and Lenny, peeling off the labels of the glasses and making the rice I should have enough time to get the meat and salad going…phew!!!
Fantastic weather right now, though still steamy. I’m sitting in a internet cafe on Jl. Dhyana Pura which actually seems like a normal street durnig the day. Photos from the bbq will be taken and hopefully more people will come than at the first one.

Things are on the up!
An Ace Hardware in Bali? Small world. My husband just left for work at an Ace Hardware in our small town on the plains of Colorado! I just applied for membership to this incredible site, and I am on pins and needles waiting for approval. I understand you have a hand in this, so after your party today and you are in a mellow mood, I’d sure appreciate a thumbs up! dianne
