Wednesday morning Andrea was getting her stuff together for her 10am departure for Lombok.
We hopped on the bike and scooted down to Kuta, her Perama bus was taking her to Padangbai, then a 4 hour ferry ride would get her to Lember on the west coast of Lombok.
The traffic on Jl.Legian was heavy and the 10am bus was about 15 minutes late. It loads right outside the office and Andrea was soon on her was to a new adventure. She’ll be back and will share all her stories with us.
Andrea should arrive in Lember at 6pm, then will head to Sengigi futher up the coast.
There is another Perama bus to Padangbai at 1pm for those who miss the morning one. I’ll be going to Lombok soon and will ride my bike to Padangbai and have transport to explore the island. I shall endeavour to show how easy it is to island hop and what great things await those who have a bit of an adventurous nature.
One guy who doesn’t think Indonesia has much to offer tourists is Mr Justice Minister. He’s at it again drafting laws that will help to inhibit the tourism industry. The new visa regulations are his doing and now he wants to abolish the Culture and Tourism Ministry. Apparently US$ 5 billion in foreign exchange is insignificant.
Lovely weather here in Kuta, clear skies and Angie just told me the water was okay on Kuta Beach.

Andrea is a good sport. I want her to see as much as possible that’s why I rented a car and drove her around over the weekend.
She enjoys the local people and tries to make frieds so she’s cool.
Hi there! I’m so happy I found this site. Thanks for keeping it up while you are there in Bali.
I am a Canadian and my fiance and I are planning a jaunt to Bali & Lombok for our honeymoon over the last two weeks of May/04. I have a question about where we should stay, because our travel agent is offering us two very luxurious options and we can’t decide. In Bali, we are thinking of the Aston Bali or the Aerowisata Sanur and in Lombok at the Holiday Inn in Senggigi. In our past travels around Europe, we have always opted for hostel/pension type places, but we thought we would splurge a bit for the honeymoon. My question is do these 4 star hotels take away from the Balinese experience? I guess that’s an impossible question. Well, for example, will we be surrounded by middle-aged wealthy people who keep to themselves rather than a crowd we can mingle with? We are 30 & 31 years old. I keep reading that food in Bali is uber cheap, and it’s possible to stay at nice places for great rates if you show up in person.
Any advice from you seasoned Bali-dwellers would be much, much appreciated.
Thank you kindly and have a great day.
Carla
p.s. it is minus 10 degrees Celsius today here in Toronto, in case you’re wondering. So enjoy that beach for me!!
Oh Lordy I didn’t mean for that message to show up here! Sorry Andrea…
Buy Bye Andrea. You can really tell behind that false smile she has a chip on her shoulder. Neddles to say Nick one guess you wont be crying over your next Bintang that she has left the Island. Just someone elses thorn in their side now i suppose . !!!!
