Friday Sept 19th in Kuta Bali

This Friday in Kuta Bali the weather was lovely�sunny, dry but not really that humid.

I went downtown on my motorbike to Internet Outpost on Poppies II taking Jalan Legian. This skinny street handles a lot of traffic and motorbike riders, particularly newcomers need to pay 100% attention to what is in front of them.

Internet Outpost wasn’t to busy and the way it goes is that mornings are rather slow for them, getting busier when the tourists drag them selves out of bed. Afternoons thin out as people head to the beach. Right now is the end of the high season so the tourists are thinning out a bit, there are new faces here everyday and at times Kuta seems busy, but merchants are looking forward to the Christmas season.

For lunch I went to Warung Nikmat on Jalan Bakung Sari. I love this Javanese food and as my stomach has calmed down a bit I thought I’d give it a shot. After the lunch rush at its way easier to get served although the pickings are thinner. I arrived at 2.30pm and the scene was calm after the storm.

After lunch I re-hit the hotel researching and I was again surprised by a place I found at the end of the alley directly opposite the Sari Club site. The White Rose Hotel was an impressive place, complete with security, Spa, pool and suites. I tell you I really didn’t feel like I was in Kuta strolling around this place.

Continuing up Jalan Legian I met a local who recognized me from the t-shirts I had give out. I had to cut short our conversation and make a run for the nearest bathroom as my guts growled into action again. I raced into the Double D bar and restaurant and after business was dealt with I thought it only proper to buy a drink.

One of the waitresses told me she was very excited to be having her �tooth filing ceremony’ next week and I am invited. Every Balinese gets their upper row of teeth filed straight at a certain age and she wasn’t at all concerned about how it would feel or how she would look.
