I’m a bit of a slow learner for sure. You actually have to bash me over the head with the facts for them to sink in. A couple of weeks ago my trusty Teva sandle started falling apart at the sole. Not wanting to discard those valuable sandals, I thought about gluing them together and in the mean time wearing some canvas ‘Vans’ type shoes.
This is the wet season meaning we get sudden downpours and side streets often get flooded. After my canvas shoes got soaked a couple of times and started to stink, I moved over to Nike running shoes. These lasted 24 hours before a monster storm saw me wading through puddles, soaking them too. Returning to the semi dry canvas shoes I thought ‘enough is enough’. Yesterday I bought a 3,000rp tube of super glue from Bintang and stuck the sandal under a chair leg. I’m now wearing the sandals again and let me tell you they are the bomb! Who cares how deep the water is now.
This made me think of visitors to Bali who get caught out shopping of walking around. In my opinion sandals are great for the wet season, other shoes for the dry season.

There are several shoe repair shops in Kuta, near Bemo Circle. They have real strong glue and were actually able to repair my body surfing fins when the heal snapped in two.
Thank you for the tip. Actually my sandals are just holding on, the middle of the sole has worn thin and there is a deep gash in it. If I get another year out of them I’ll be happy.
Hey Nick
I am assuming these wonder sandals were purchased in U.S—-maybe if you divulge your size and post a pic of them one of your blogger friends coming to bali will bring a pair over for you.
Cheers laurs
