First morning back in Seminyak Bali

Thursday morning at 6.30 Ika, Jevon and I walked down to the beach at the end of Jl. Dhyana Pura to catch some fresh air and watch the waves. Jevon has put on a few pounds since I last saw him. He is into rice porridge and gets vegetables in the morning too.

Carrying Jevon requires me to move him around if not using a sling attachment. I don’t know how Ika does it.

Cafe Seminyak was next on my list, good coffee and friendly staff. My new shades not fooling the staff for an instant. Being a glass wearer for many years, sunnies were not a prt of my life. A recent visit to the Nike store in Portland Oregon gave me the chance to pick up some proper polarizing glasses so hopefully my retinas will last a while longer.

Cafe Seminyak’s coffee machine was broken, so I walked up to Cafe Moka, a place I do not frequent to often anymore. Before coming back to Bali I was wondering how I’d handle the heat. So far its been great and I actually think my body responds better to hot humid conditions than cold. Kuta seemed quiet today for sure. Jl. Legian had a few tourists and a lot of vendors looking around for a sale. I get the impression that locals here are financially screwed and Ika told me there have been 3 robberies in our area in the last week. One on Gang Bima and 2 on Jl. Drupadi, all on solo women. Not to worry, you’ve got to be careful when stepping out of a bar alte at night and going for a solo walk. Stick to well lit streets and walk close to the road so people can see you. I don’t personally feel in danger and hope the economy picks up.
