First day in Brisbane Australia

by Nick on December 23, 2003

It took me 10 years but I finally made it back to Australia.

August 1993 was the time I flew out of Perth to Bali and I felt some excitement coming back.

Sean and I flew Australian Airlines from Denpasar to Sydney followed by a Qantas flight to Brisbane. I can say that both were very good with attentive service and decent food.

Flying into Brisbane it didn’t look like a ‘big country town’ anymore and driving in Chris’s dad’s car to Taringa, a western suburb I noticed a lot of new development. My impressions so far are that Brisbane is a fast developing, clean modern city with great weather ( there’s not a cloud in the sky).

Chris’s dad Bob treated us to one of his famous bbq’s which was accompanied by a decent amount of beer and wine. This morning Sean, Chris and I are wading through email in the basement and looking forward to meeting more of the relo’s who will arrive over the next couple of days.

We will be posting our activites on Australia blog and I will be back in Bali around Jan 2nd probably.

“Big Country Town” is long gone. They have a good Imigration-system for foreigners ,now we need one for between the states. It stoppes all the
Southerners from coming here which bring the crime and all that stuff. At least the weather is better today,35 was a little warm but be prepaired, there might be some 40’s coming.
Have a nice Chrissy

Hi Di,

Well thankee for that!. Yeah, Perth is a beautiful place to live and just recently I have been touring around checking a few places out for stories. I never realised that there is so much to do here!. Surprised the hell out of me considering I have lived here most of my life…on and off!

G’Day Nick,

Yeah, global friends are cherished friends.

Idea: How about we organise a time during 2004 which is compatable to all Baliblog readers and posters, and then we have a week long party in Bali!. Of course it would be an ‘open’ party and include those on the BnA forum. Awwh stuff it, let’s just organise a big party!….

Barrie,

Bali 2004 sounds great! Weather sounds warm, but be ready for rain. Does that sum up the climate?

Cheers!

Cead Mile Failte everyone !! Just reading all the comments on this site and think its great, was in Bali for a month in summer 2000, and had the best time ever, funny how it is, but i saw someone else say they think they left their heart in Bali after their visit, so thats where mine is !! One thing though, Paddys Reloaded ??? is that a new club to replace the original Paddys ? I used to spend a lot of nights there as we used to have a great laugh (as you would being Irish). Well keep up the great reveiws/comments lad and lassies…….Slan…..Aaron
