Talking to Sean today on the phone it was great to catch up. The boys at BootsnAll will be moving to Portland in a weeks time and after years in Eugene it must seem huge.
I was walking on the beach at Batubelig in front of Ku De Ta restaurant when he called. The old guy was buried already, the guys raking the beach have less to do now the rainy season is over and the surf was almost non existent.
I spent an hour or so this afternoon exploring one of the back streets in Kuta and will write that up tonight. This street is a little bit of Bali right behind the tourist facade, complete with smiling locals, kids and animals. This guy wanted to be extra friendly and then I asked his name said ‘ Dickie‘. I said ‘hold that thought I’ve got to go mate.’
Here at Internet Outpost on Poppoies II Paul and I had to run out the front door and gasp for air. One of the new male emplooyees let off an atomic bomb in his underwear and cleared out the whole place. I’ve never seen anything like this before….the whole place was emptied. We were thinking his nasi goreng was in his underwear and he put it under one of the computers, the smell lingered for ages.
Endah, an employee here has a new boyfriend which Paul described as ‘very greasy looking’. The guy is about 5′3″, dressed in black, John Travolta style with a Mexican moustach..Endah is whipped. We told her if he is anything less than a complete gentleman we’re taking him down the beach for a beating.

I can’t wait to see the photo’s & stories of the back streets!!!
Yeah, we all want a look at this guy!!!!
Tell all the nice girls there, to wait until they meet Pedro!!!
Soory, Pedro…Just trying to help….!
Endah’s new boyfriend sounds like one of those bandido’s out of the old spaghetti westerns!. Great to read you are doing the honourable thing Nick and caring for Endah’s interests.
Change of plans, well dates!
Arriving in the arvo of July 26th, the wedding is now not on the 30th of July but the 5th of August! So we will catch up before & have a beer or several! A more prosperous day my Balinese Family have decided..
You should come Nick & bring your camera!
A question: Do you know any Migration Agents or visa experts there to help Balinese Migrate to anywhere, but mostly Australia & if they can REALLY help how much is their fee?
Anyone with any tips let me know! I just want my Husbands visa to be quick!!! Understandably! Barrie, not long for you now!!!!!
Tracey, actually it is 24 days!.Geez it’s gonna be great to be home in Indo again.
Barrie, 79 days for me & counting.
Pedro & I start our Indo#2 class tonight it goes for 8 weeks, sonce it is finished we won’t have long at all! I can’t wait……see you there in July/August!
Hi Tracey, instead of looking at it as 79 days, look at it in weeks. It seems less time!. Glad to see that you are learning Bahasa Indonesia. Been there done that for 4 years at college. Believe me, it does get very interesting AND easier after Indo#2.
So you now have ONLY 11 weeks to go before your feet touch the ground of the island of the Gods. Think Bali continuously and time will breeze by!.
hahahaha
Fun post Nick. I’d like to see a pic of the new beau. And yes, definitely make sure he’s a gentleman.
