Its another week and there is plenty to do.
Sunday night my friend Jasmine threw a little gathering at her place and I brought the bbq over. Focusing on getting the meat ready with a variety of spices and flavours I neglected to get over to her place in Kerobokan with the bbq. About an hour and a half before it was due to kick off I took the bull by the horns and decided to ride it over on my motorbike. The thing sat on the point of my seat and with one hand holding the lid on I steered with the other.
As luck would have it the banjar blocked off Jl. Seminyak and re routed all the traffic so I had a good old time negotiating bumpy side streets with my lid clanging at every bump. I remember one moment in particular when I was in the middle of the intersection at Jl. Raya Kerobokan and Jl. Petitenget waiting for a chance to turn right. The cops were there on ther corner staring at me and I sat there for about 30 seconds expecting to be pulled over. They missed their chance though. I arrived a short while later and set up the grill.
Ace Hardware stopped selling the regular charcoal brickets nad now does rectangular ones. I was nervous, these new ones are super crumbly and look like crap. Would they do the job? The pressure was on.
Last week’s bbq saw 27 people show a face. I invited a bunch of people and so did Jasmine and this week we got 8 people including Angie and Ellie from Australia. We had a good old time with the ladies telling stories and jokes and I my best to feed everyone with steak, chicken, fish and Java style corn (grilled and coated with honey).
Jasmine was a star with the endless drinks and I’d say the evening was a success. Sometimes a smaller crowd is easier to associate with.
ps. The new charcoal works and even though it tends to disintegrate kicks out some serious heat.
I just visited another very reasonable hotel in Seminyak right in the party zone. You can book it right here online too.
