Sunday evening we were finsishing up with our meetings here around 8pm and were deciding where to eat.
Actually in Bali we are spoiled for choice as there are so many types of food and places on offer.
We chose Teras restaurant on Jl Legian across from Jl. Double Six. This second floor restaurant has a covered section and an open air section. Actually is is a cool place serving an Italian based menu. Sean and Chris got calzone while I went for a pizza for 38,000rp.
Going Italian it was only right to order some red wine and we gotb a bottle of 2 of Wine of the Gods, the local brand that is made with grapes from Australia. Its not bad.
Our good friend Mick joined us at last minutes notice and filled us in his latest adventures including blazing through a police roadblock doing a wheelie…with a passenger. I didn’t realise Cathay engineers did so much aerodynamic testing in their off time.
Monday morning we rented a Toyota Kijang SUV and are just about to head for Bedugal, Singaraja and Lovina, then round to Amed over the next couple of days.

Stop feeding us straight lines.
Nick how much is the daily rental on the SUV? Last time we had the taxi driver take us to a rental place and wouldn’t rent from them again because we had to work on the brakes and could not get a hold of them to drop off the SUV, hopefully they figured out that we left it at the airport with the keys in it. Hope there isn’t an APB out for american car thieves. It would be helpful for you to review the car rental places for us. I do know that we can rent a Harley for about $100 for a week, very reasonable by Harley standards. I would prefer one of those new little mini-vans though. Thanks for the info & the daily delight of Bali. Still haven’t found an airfare for under $1000 yet.

The SUV we’re renting is 125,000rp per day. Made, my contact was getting us one for 115,000rp per day but we got a slightly better version. This is without driver.
By the way driving over here is no worries if you know where you’re going. Just go slow and drive defensively.
The way car rental goes in Bali is everyone and there brother has a car to rent ( even if its not theirs ). Ask at any hotel desk or travel agent and a phone call will be made, a car arriving within the hour.
One funny thing about renting cars out here is the car shows up with almost no gas in it. They know the average westerner is going to fill it up and probably leave a quarter tank, so they will make money no matter how much is in it when you hand it back.
The cars I’ve rented are Suzuki Katana ( Samurai ) which is cheap but very bumpy and has no power and the Toyota Kijang, 4 door which is comfortable. The other 2 favourites over here are the Peroja made by Isuzu i think which is a decent ride and the 1970’s Toyota Landcruiser which is a gas guzzling tank.
The Wine of the Gods also left me with zero hangover the next morning, even though I probably polished off almost a bottle on my own. That gives it an extra star in my rating system!
Nick, Give us more photo’s!!!!
Hey make sure you go fishing in Bedugal….. I love that place!!!
That is an awesome part of the Island to check out……
Barrie, We expect the full shopping update tomorrow of all the gifts “C” has brought over for you!!!!
I was thinking I should be writing a diary of all the funny things that have happened, various communication crack ups between Gede & I etc…
We moved to a new house & Gede was directing my friend who was driving the truck full of our stuff, mind you they were in the totally wrong area, they were driving around the streets for an hour going let’s try here, etc… Eventually they called my mobile to ask directions!!!! Once everything was at the new place, I begun un packing, as Gede had p[acked the house up entirely by himself whilst I was at work…
Every article of clothing was shoved into boxes, I wondered why there were so many, instead of grabbing hangers& all & putting them on a back seat or something he had removed EVERYTHING from the hangers!!! Took me 3 hours to hang all my clothes back up… Everyone else was enjoying the V.B’s I had bought for helpers!!! They asked me why I had taken them all off hangers, I just grinned!!!!
It is hilarious & not worth getting grumpy about!!!
He cooked Butter chicken from a Maggi sachet, it requires butter & cream added he cooked the chicken & tipped the sachet on, it was drier than usual, but still edible, it is funny!!!!
