Drops: A flashy joint in Legian Bali

drops052005.jpgDrops is a new restaurant located on Jl. Padma. It is part of the move to remodel the Kuta / Legian area and create a new image. Drops is actually part of the Casa Padma Hotel & Suites and opened in January 2005. Styled in minimalist silver, grey and red, the restaurant is a trendy place to go. Prices are reasonable though and the menu includes Appetizers & Salads, Soups, Mains, Pizza & Pasta, Snacks & Light Meals, Steaks, Classic Balinese and Sweet Temptations. A small Bintang is 11,000rp and an Australian Sirloin Steak is 89,000rp.

Tables extend backwards towards the hotel swimming pool and are arranged in a square configuration. A lot of effort has gone into the menu as far as quality and presentation. I sat and typed for about 2 hours and a couple of the waitresses came over and chatted. Karmini told me almost everything about herself and wanted to know all about Baliblog. She even gave me tips on buying a motorbike. One cool thing was during our long conversation I was able to fudge my through it by speaking Indonesian almost the whole time. I tell you a little Bahasa can open the way to conversation.

Drops is a great place to sit and have a drink (menu) and I predict good things for the future. Drops is open at 7am and last order for food is 1am.

G’day Nick,

Great place!. This is the place I mentioned to you where I took Candika for a romantic dinner. Fabulous food.

Across the road from there is a place called ‘Wayan and Friends’. Check it out.
