Some people will do anything to make money. The economy is down after the October bombing, and it will take time before everyone is flush with cash again. For some people, making life hell for other expats is a way to make money.
I hear all kinds of stories and rumours and most of them are crap. However it depends who tells me. The Indo government are cracking down on foreigners who are working illegally, and people know they can get a kick back by ‘dobbing in’ (ratting on) another westerner. Some people would sell their mother for 10 bucks, but this kind of thing is usually limited to people in the same industry, that is to say, snitching on competitors is popular.
What blows me away is Aussie guys doing it to other Aussie guys! Would they try that kind of thing back home? No way, so what makes them think they can do it here and pretend its all kosher? I think some people are overdue for a chat with ‘Mr Nasty’.
