Day after Nyepi in Seminyak Bali

Friday morning I walked down Jl. Seminyak and saw the street was busy with locals and tourists. Cafe Seminyak and Bintang supermarket were doing a roaring trade and its feels like just the other night everything was closing up. The weather here has been cloudy and blustery. I know Nyepi is supposed to be a ritual cleansing, but the atmosphere in Bali got cleansed good and proper by the high winds and lashing rain.

Down at Blue Ocean Beach at the end of Jl. Double Six, locals has set up mobile food carts selling corn and bakso. Ika told me that down in Kuta, all the shops on Jl. Pantai Kuta were told by the banjar to close, as they were having a bazaar. Some shops will naturally be closed, because the staff is in the process of returning from their village. Today felt like wet season weather, and I saw plenty of debris washed up on Blue Ocean beach. It was high tide around 11.30am, and a group of Japanese people got ready for their surfing lesson. High tide meant the waves were gentler than high tide, but the wind made for choppy conditions.
