Cigars & Cigars – Kuta Bali

Bali has unique businesses and one of the most unique is a place located close to Simpang Siur, the big roundabout in Kuta close to Planet Hollywood.

As you head towards the Sunset Rd from Jl. Imam Bonjol you hit a little shopping mall called Kuta Poleng Mall. The most obvious place here is Dijon Deli. The place I came to see was called Cigars & Cigars.

This shop is one of chain owned by a company called Pacific Cigars Co. Ltd based in Hong Kong.

Cigars & Cigars is a cool little place to walk into, very stylish with photos of famous cigar smokers and cigar paraphanalia in the window.

I was greeted by Heru Dwi Soesilo from Java who works there as a Sales Executive. He took me around the small shop pointing out the different kinds of cigars. I noticed the Cohiba Siglio IV which cost $20 each. To me its like smoking $20 bills but cigar lovers will tell you its worth it. Americans especially love Cuban cigars because they are supposed to be the best in the world and because they are illegal in the US.

Cigars have their own aura. The whole ‘cigar lounge’ thing. I wish I didn’t hate toxic fumes so much. Here in Bali there’s no such thing as fresh air and I have no desire to suck in more stuff that’s bad for me.

The carefully stacked boxes wreaked of history, quality and money. Cigars really have a personality of their own and sucking on a stogie gives a certain prestige to the smoker.

The shop opened on March 20th 2001 and is a wood pannelled, humidity controlled smoking paradise.

Cigars & Cigars sells a wide range of accessories including humidors, cigar cutters, lighters, leather cases, cigar books and magazines.

Special events include ‘Out of the Humidor’evenings that allow customers to sample new or specially featured cigars and meet other cigars lovers for a smoko.

Brands of cigars stoked here include: Bolivar, Cohiba, Fonseca, Hoyo de Monterey, Cuaba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagas, Punch, Vegas Robaina, Trinidad, Diplomaticos
