This book is a ripper!. It's a collection of short stories written about the authors experiences and time in Indonesia and guaranteed to take your emotions on a roller-coaster ride. Hilarious at times, sad in many ways in others and yet you will find yourself associating with many of his experiences if you have ever travelled to Indonesia. For those who haven't, it will give you an insight into daily life within Indonesia and its people.
The author, Richard Mann first visited Indonesia back in 1978 and has been writing books about Indonesia since 1982. He has been involved in publishing various books about Indonesia. These include books on business and tourism promoting Indonesia. Mann is married to an Indonesian.
Hardship post is his second collection of short stories. These stories are written in a very laid-back manner and make an easy read. So much so in fact, that you will find yourself being unable to put the book down it is that engrossing. Mann has the ability to weave his talents around situations that occur on a daily basis and those which poke fun at tourists in a harmless way. A prime example is the story 'A Crazy World' where the tourist battles over his choice of eggs for breakfast. My favourite?. It would have to be 'Paradise Lost'. What’s it about?. Buy the book and find out!.
Hardship Post is the kind of book you relax with as you laze around the pool at your hotel or when you recline on the sands of Kuta beach. Highly recommended.
