Berlin: A very different place than Bali

Nick here from Germany. I made it to Germany, arriving after midnight the other day and getting to our apartment at 1am. I’m staying near Alexander Platz in the former East Berlin.

The reason I came here was to help cover the 2006 World Cup soccer tournament for WorldCupBlog. Its chilly here in Berlin and an adjustment for me. People are very civilized and nice, and the beer is great. 3 doors down from the apartment is a small local pub, decorated with anti Bush posters and paraphernalia, I love it!

Over the next month, I’ll be travelling all over Germany, interviewing people and documenting what’’s going on over here. Probably crawl off the plane in July and need a vacation after I get back.

Well Nick, you found the beer but had to give up all that nice fresh tropical fruit back home. Now if you can only find a powerful pump and a hose 8000 miles long you can have both!

BTW can you give us a hint on who will win the cup?

My bet is on the Brazilians.
