This morning I walked down Jl. Oberoi ( Lasmana ) towards Ku De Ta restaurant. I was expecting a call fom Sean in Oregon on my cell phone and took the camera along. These locals and young kids were already out and about. The Balinese school week is 6 days long and begins early in the morning, you can see them going to school at 6-6.30am.
The family car over here is usually a motorbike and fitting everyone on is a well worn routine, Can you see the last one on this bike?
Heading down the main street this lady was busy filling her can of gas from the barrel.
Down on the beach in front of Ku De Ta I bumped into Maurice and a friend who were checking out the surf. They said conditions were decent yesterday and today promises to be smaller but more consistent. The waves looked pretty nice to me here at Batubelig.
Had a good talk with Sean and am excited to see pictures of our new office in Portland, the boys will be moving there on the weekend.
Chris, here’s a shot of where you will be in a month.

Read your log every day for my bali fix.
I would like to have some of your photos as background.(hope that is OK) However when I have tried it they are not at all clear - look like blocks.
Is there a setting I should change in display? If there is will it cause any other problems? Running WinXP/home
What I really enjoy Nick is the way you capture the daily life in ‘natural’ fotos. It’s an absolute joy to log on to BaliBlog for, as Juliette puts it, a daily fix of Bali.
I had to look twice for the last one on the bike but the little fella is tucked away there on Dad’s lap. It always amazes me how they control their bikes with such a load!.
Looking forward to it, Nick. A month from today and I’m just about there.
Love the Pictures! I wonder if Marcel is a life guard I met on the beach there? Would you please, post some pictures of those beautiful, long haired, Balinese Men?
Marcel doesn’t work as a lifeguard I don’t think but is an avid windsurfer.
Beautiful Balinese men, I haven’t seen any. If you mean those little guys who hang around the beach, sure I’ll get photos of some for you. Beauty is in the eye of he beholder and I think I’m to busy beholding the ladies to notice the surfers.
Susie,
Do you mean “Marcello?”
As Barrie so well said, you capture the people in their daily lives - the part of Bali we seldom see. Indeed, it is a delight and educational.
Mate, looks great and can’t wait to make it back. Great talk this morning and have a great week. In the meantime, I’ll be reading away and enjoying the pictures.
