Bath time in Seminyak Bali

Late afternoon in Bali, one of the family get to take his second bath of the day. Jevon likes the water and our bathtub is where he ends up with his plastic duck and a bottle of kid soap. We have hot water, which, Ika told me, was one of the best things about our house.

Jevon’s schedule starts with him getting breast fed early in the morning. He’ll be fed bubur (rice porridge) with pureed vegetables / fruit, at around 9am, then take a nap, either on the bed or in a recently installed hammock. While not needing disposable diapers all the time, he wears then at night and if we go out.

Ana the pembantu sits in the garden and washes the clothes with 3 big bowls of water. Jevon crawls out there and likes to splash the water. Last time I looked he was pulling the clothes out of one bowl and onto the garden path. We have an old inflatable kids pool that our neighbor gave us. The pump doesn’t work, but if we can get a cheap one that will be his new playground when he can walk.

Sounds like you need a pool man.

Nick,

Is it safe to drink the water out of the tap in Bali?

Rob, you’ve got the job.

Carlos, no you can’t drink the tap water. It probably won’t kill you, I brush my teeth with it and have boiled it to make tea, no worries.
