Walking around Kuta this afternoon it was definitely and slower scene than normal. Poppies I & II were quiet as was the beach. I stopped at a little t-shirt place at the end of Poppies I and bought a pair of fake board shorts from Nyoman, a lady who used to work on Poppies II. The shorts cost 25,000rp and I hope Nyoman can get a meal out of the sale. Needless to say this is the time to shop for bargains. If you show up and say you will buy 10 or more items you are in a position to push the price down. Don't feel bad about it, its pure economics, and no one sells at a loss, no matter what other people tell you. My attitude is if the vendor is willing to sell it must be helping him in some way.
Most of the Kuta vendors do not own the shop, they are simply selling stuff for a boss and are well aware of the break even point. Blue Ocean beach in Legian is busy as usual and Seminyak is okay. Kuta is quiet for sure, but there are benefits to that. If you come to Bali right now you have bargaining power, plenty of room on the plane, plenty of great hotel rooms to choose from and you never have to wait for a seat in a restaurant. I sense Christmas will be slow but summer 2006 will be back strong.

Oh, I love those rujak manis!
I wish I were in Bali and bought all the rujak manis myself!
For some reasons those paranormal things are playing big role (and some turned out to be true) in Indo people ilfe.
well, the travel agent in jakarta said that although bookings from overseas may decrease, the domestic bookings for bali still on peak high.
am going to bali 5-8 nov (since 7 & 8 is compulsory leave for offices). hope to see clear white sky in bali.. and hello beaches !!
well, for some reason the heavy hand keeps being dealt to the region of Indo. The beaches are great, the food is fabulous, the chicks are glamours, the cost is perfect.
Bali is big on karma.
So?
I walked the beach from Kuta to Seminyak yesterday because I had no electricity most of the day in Jimbaran. What I saw was Sellers on the beach with a look of total despair and the the knowledge that things are going to get worse. I read the Post and see that JAL has stoppedflights to Bali and cancelled 2200 existing bookings. People I meet tell me that some paranormal is predicting that the 21st would be a terrible day for Bali, and I cant help thinking, Malnutrition,Polio,Bird Flu,No Electric, Little LPG and most offices closed for ceremony. Usually with me the glass is allways half full but now I think we are starting to leak badly.
