Bali taxi prices have risen

Many visitors to Bali love the availabilty and affordability of taxis. The flag rate for most cabs is 4,000rp and a trip from my house in Seminyak to the airport might cost 25,000rp

The recent drop off in tourist number plus the rising cost of fuel has forced taxi companies to raise their rates. When Ika and I have taken a Bluebird recenlty the driver handed us a printed sheet. The meter works in 500 rp increments and they have corresponding new prices for every listed current price. Per kilometer charges have been increased from 2,500rp to 4,000rp. A trip to the Puri Bunda hopsital in Denpasar might of cost 35,000 before, now its 50,000rp. Still not the end of the world, but another reason to hire a motorbike.
