Bali Police: Call 0361 224111

Responding to some complaints of street crime and other minor stuff, the Bali police have given a phone number that is specially for tourists.

Bali police chief Inspector General Sunarko told foreign journalists on Tuesday that his force was ready to protect tourists 24/7 and gave the number 0361 224111. I’ve got it in my cell phone just in case Wayan the Ripper jumps out in the alley.

Bali is quite same as regards street crime, not to say skirmishes don’t happen, but its not Rio de Janeiro. In regard to detecting terrorist actions, I don’t believe the police have any capability to do that. The Intel (Indonesia Intelligence) are the ones who can do that, by placing spies in every village, like in the Suharto era.

Tourists coming to Bali might want to copy down the phone number just in case.

Allan, Oh I’m sure there is a ’service fee’. Don’t know what they are asking.
