Bali Nine prisoners take a shopping spree in Kuta Bali

by Nick on June 5, 2005

The Sydney Morning Herald reports people spotting 2 of the Bali Nine doing a spot of shopping in Kuta the other day. The Bali Nine are the 9 Australians accused of attempting to smuggle heroin out of Bali.

For a westerner facing a possible death sentence the idea of a shopping trip would be a fantasy, but here in Bali its all possible. Part of the reason they were out is that the cops want the Bali Nine to reconstruct the events leading up to their arrest. The other reason is that, as Bob said, a trip to the beach can be arranged.

For those staying in the Kuta area keep your eyes peeled, you might see some of the ringleaders at the Kuta Seaview Hotel on Pantai Kuta, or the Melasti Beach Hotel. Will the trial of the Bali Nine eclipse Schapelle Corby? Will new evidence be revealed? All we can do is wait and see. In the mean time I hope the young folks got a breath of fresh air on their day out.

Hi Stavros,

My mum was pretty pissed off with that article in the newspaper. I suppose it’s because if they’ve been seen ‘cruising’ whilst Corby sits in a cell then it’s just not right.

But hey, you are probably right. They needed new clothes to go to court in!.

Nick what do you reckon the chances of you getting a visit to interview one of the Bali nine mate, preferabley one of the mules, although i would be interested to hear what any of them made of their future.
As for there supposed little shopping trip around Kuta, i reckon this could have been them tracing their steps for the Bali detectives or perhaps they were just kitting out all the Bali detectives with new outfits and gifts with money their relatives had sent them. The latter could well be the case as everything has a price. Schappelle should know this and i am sure if i was in her position i would of played the game so as to speak. Perhaps some of dodger ‘Rons’ money could have been spent being transferred to the judges family and anyone else who could ahve swung the case her way.

I find that quite disgusting what kind of show they play there.Corby got probably 20 years -so all those bastards who supposed to guard them can live on their money for 20 years.(including that monkey of a judge).I don’t think that should be supported at all. What happens 10 years down the track? They won’t let you in the plane without a bribe ? I remember my first visit there and at the airport, one of those luggage handlers just grabed my suitcase and went off- stopping at the moneychanger.I said to him “did i ask you to carry that?” He couldn’t really say “yes” -that means his hand stayed empty. Very anoying.

It is rather strange having prisoners go for a walk at the beach but heck, I’m not in their shoes. If I was I would be glad to get out for an afternoon too.

I hope to get an interview with some of the Bali Nine. I thought I’d give us all a breather from that stuff for a while before I do that.

Don’t be naive.

Corby is getting the same treatment.

Why do you think that she doesn’t want to go to Australia to serve out her term?? Because if you have the cash (and Corby will with all her donations) you can do and have what you like. Just aslong you are back before sunset. ; )

It was reported a few weeks before that the bali 9 would be compelled to retrace their steps as part of the investigation.

Detlef – you sir/madam are a fool!
Your quote “(including that monkey of a judge)” is beneath contempt.

So you don’t like Indonesias drug laws eh? Well how about Australia’s racial vilification laws?

Schapelle can thank her chances of any reprieve slowly but surely slipping away to you and your mates.

Please Boycott Bali if you are a rascist or if you intend to bring illegal goods such as Corby’s.

Detlef, most countries can do without the likes of you.
