Two members of the Bali Nine are scheduled to appear in court today to hear their fate. Its huge day for them. What the court decides today will affect the course of their lives. The 2 people appearing are Renae Lawrence and Scott Rush, 2 of the ‘mules’. Prosecutors have demanded life for Rush and 20 years for Lawrence. According to The Age, the court often awards a lower penalty than the prosecutors demand.
I think a couple of people caught a break in the prosecution’s demands and a couple of others were unlucky. If we use the sentencing demands for the kingpins, Chan and Sukumaran, who both got death, then going down the line I’d look for the next level of people. Renae had been to Bali on other occasions with Chan, so she was not just someone who got fooled, she was probably a recruiter. Also Nguyen recruited Rush and Czugaj, putting him in a leadership role. Going with that, Renae and Nguyen should get life, the 2 youngest guys getting 20 years for being stupid. Everyone else getting something in between.
We’ll have to wait for the verdict.

Look!!! Another Nguyen caught smuggling drugs, only this time a Federal Air Marshal. I’m sure Momma and Poppa Nguyen are blaming on lound-eye.
They all deserve to stay there and rot - even the young guys.
deserve to rot? maybe the kingpins… but still isnt life or 20 years a little harsh for smugling drugs? Although they should have known the riscs and I respect the coutnry’s law… here in Belgium you would maximum get 3 years; and if you behave well you’re out after 1 year.
I think hard sentencing and death penalty don’t help a 100%; people will only do more to not get caught; raising the chance to get caught has a better effect.

Ok now the score is 2 life 2 death…things are looking up…
2 life sentences down…its a good start
