Bali Bomb I in Kuta, targeted the Sari Club and Paddy’s on Jl. Legian. Over the last 3 year there have been an assortment of plans to develop these areas, none of which have produced anything concrete. Up to this point in time both lots are vacant with dirt, Paddy’s had banana trees growing there to keep away evil spirits.
An article in the Melbourne Herald Sun says locals are using Paddy’s to park cars. This is naturally a slap in the face to the relatives of victims, who come to Bali to lay wreaths and commemorate their loss.
A friend of mine, Dallas Finn, was trying for a long time to contact the land owner of both places, in order to make an offer for the land. His goal was to raise money for a permanent ‘peace park’ where people could come and pay their respects. Needless to say he has had the run around, and for the latest on his plans check out his site.
I was in Kuta yesterday and must admit I didn’t pay much attention to either site. Today I’ll check them out for myself.
