This afternoon I was riding around Kuta in search of a new camera, I can't locate my Canon A75 and think I left it somewhere in Lovina. The amount of times I take it out, along with my phone, is amazing. A camera a year is probably the going rate for a blogger. I found a similar model in a shop on Jl. Legian and am back on track with the photos.
In Kuta I swung by the bombing site and this has turned into its own little tourist attraction. A crowd of locals and Aussies gathered for photos and a moment's contemplation. An Australian TV crew were filming a slot and this attracted further attention. I watched one lady from Jakarta pull up in her SUV, climb out and gleefully stroll over to the tape, happy to have found the latest news item.
Kuta Square is blocked off, no business at all for the moment. The atmosphere among the crowd did not seem to be one of outrage or sadness. I'm serious! It was more like curiosity, or visiting Schapelle in jail, just another attraction. After returning home with my new camera I transfered all the photos of the bomb site to my computer and edited them, only to have my computer lock up. So we will have to imagine the bomb site until further notice. If you can imagine Kuta Square without traffic and some glass on the street, that is pretty much it.

thanks to the people who still trust Bali as safe place. the world politics is so unbalance right now and we realize that the bomb can blow up anywhere.
i do understand also if some aussie become scare to visit Bali again..and off course there is other destination holiday as replacement. Thailand, Hawaii, etc…but off course they dont have what Bali has, and they need u to spend more money than Bali

The comments u make are a tad generalised.
You don’t have to tell us that a bomb can go off anywhere. We are well aware of that.
Bali is a safe place agreed. But 0.5%, those JI or whatever are unsafe.
Look, do you know of the boy who cried wolf?
We have returned since the first bombings. So please don’t stereotype the people who have now changed their mind about bali. So don’t say we are scared to return to Bali, we are not. But we are scared of being blown up.
Why not rally to your indonesain government and do some more to ensure the safety of your tourist neighbours.
What measures will be taken to prevent this from happening again?
What measures were taken after the first bombings?
If the indo. govt. can beef up security, and do more then coming back will be an option in the future.
But yeah, what can we expect them to do?

Hi . My girlfriend and i are arriving in Bali mid November. Just wondering if there will still be people surfing partying and enjoying Bali in general. I had a flight booked in 2002 but decided not to come due to the Sari nightclub bombing. So this is my secound time trying to see Bali. So if anyone has any advice on what to expect when we arrive it would be greatly apreciated. Thanks. MIke Nd Carrie. Canada.
“What measures were taken after the first bombings?”
For a start, the indonesian government can outlaw JI. Do you know that in indonesia, JI is still legal organization and they can still legally recruit people? that sucks.
why bother with Bali..u can surf at Bondi Beach and get bite by shark..
why JI(Jamaah Islamiyah or Jewish Inteligence?) never bomb sydney eventough there are many moslem immigrant in australia.
the answer is..: australia is not important in world politics. UK is far more important. bombing australia sends zero impact to world politic.
Are you saying that JI was outlawed after the first bombing? Or that it should be outlawed?
A. If it was, it ain’t showing.
B. If it will be it wont change anything.
Bali - money can manipluate anything
Yeah it sucks.
We want to hear that the indo govt. are actually doing some preventative measures rather than just interviewing people after the fact.
Make us want to return!!! We do want to come back, but please make it safer for us.
what kinds of sharks swim around Bondi water? Tiger or great whitey?
“Are you saying that JI was outlawed after the first bombing? Or that it should be outlawed?”
I meant to say: JI should be outlawed.
zero impact?
what planet are you on? People died you moron.!!
australia is not important?
your obviously not that well educated
who is comparing contries?
how old are you mate? “uk is far more important”
grow up!!!!!!!!!
Why hasen’t Sydney been bombed……
Because we have the strictest customs in the world. We are taking heed to threats taken out aginst out country. We are taking preventative meausres rather than waithing for it to happen to us.
Actots comments are not those of australians in general. And most australians would not appreciate ur comments saying “why go to bali go to bondi” Your an idiot for saying that.
Bondi beach has shark nets that prevent them from reaching the shores. You don’t get attacked at bondi at all.
It’s just that Actots is not well educated.
Anyone out there with a little advice about coming to Bali in November. Is the goverment doing enough to make it a safe place for travel. Im sure we will still come just looking for some advice . thx mike and carrie . canada
Hey come to Canada we havent been bombed yet. You can surf in the snow and get frosbite not shark bite. Ha Ha .
Hi Everybody,
I will also be coming to Bali next Saturday and I cannot wait. Many places in this world are unsafe nowadays but Bali is such a nice place with such nice people that it is worth the risk.
Bali Hai
See you,
Jean-Jacques
Hi jean-jacques, where are you travelling from?, are you staying in kuta? the end of the fasting is in a coulpe of weeks are you aware of this? that is when all the muslims come from all over indo to kuta to celebrate, so alot of the hotels and bars will be packed up, Mike and I are arriving after that and staying in kuta for 6 weeks! I hope nothing else happings for everyone, its scarey
My husband and I have not been put off and are travelling from Scotland to Jakarta on 4th November to spend 4 or 5 days with a friend then travelling on to Bali around about the 9th Nov. Will this still be a busy time due to the end of Ramadam?
We are planning 10 days in Bali then back to Jakarta for our friends wedding he is marrying a local girl so are having a Scottish - Indo wedding - should be a good knees up, with kilts a flying!
I have met Australian friends who arrived today on a fairly empty plane. People are cancelling for sure, but my friends were heading up the the Eco Lodge in Tabanan.
If you are in a quite restaurant or bar you stand little chance of being targeted. They are looking for the really busy spots.
I live close to Jl. Dhyana Pura in Seminyak, that is where I am typing this from. Chances are you will okay in Bali.
i dont want to sound like a hero..
but it maybe the way this comes across!
But i am NOT AT ALL scared of these “terrorists” which i like to call…
“Mongrel Bastards, scum of the earth, who should be drowned in a big container of pigs blood”
If you havent got my point, id rather kill myself…than have these wankers have any kind of say in me not doing what i wanna do.
Its the bali people that will be hit the hardest
i made some really good mates when i was over there, and it is for these guys that i will always go back to bali!
i would rather get blown up having a laugh and a beer with a few mates….than get hit by a bus on my way to work.

Hi Carrie & Mike,
I am just having a short break and will be travelling to Bali unfortunately just for a few days (07-14). I love Bali and I have been there many times. I usually stay in Kuta and from there criss-cross the island. This time I will only have time to enjoy the beach and hopefully the nightlife of Bali.
I am travelling from Myanmar but I am a Swiss citizen leaving and working in Asia.
I wish you guys a nice trip and stay in Bali.
Cheers
had my first ever holiday abroad in bali ,got caught up in the first bombing and scarred the living shit out of me .to me it was paradise ,would love to go back but probably never will ,still suffering for it now.

I guess you all play a little RAMBO there, right?? OH YOU ALL SO F…. BRAVE!!!!!! I bet you all went to BandaAche too!!!! Can’t believe in that much ignorance!! Sorry about that!!!
T.K. from Germany
