One of the characters on trial in Denpasar for the 2005 Bali Bomb II, claimed he has been tortured into giving a confession. Mohammad Cholily is said to have worked closely with JI (Jemaah Islamiyah) capo, Noordin Top.
The Bali police left no stone unturned, when questioning him about his role in the bombings. Cholily claims they put a gun in his mouth, as well as roughing him up a bit. Sounds about right, I’m sure they did. If you ask most people on this island if they’d condone that in order to close down suicide bombing here, most would agree to it.
In any case, Mohammad Cholily will likely be found guilty, and under Indonesia’s terrorism law, be sentenced to death.
