One of the victims of the 2005 Bali Bombing, is still in the morgue. According to the Bali Advertiser, Mr Riber Kunt Haags aged 35 , from Holland, is still occupying a refrigerator in Sanglah hospital mortuary.
Mr Haags’s relatives would like to take the body back to Holland, but local authorities want 88m rp. No money, no stiff. Mr Haags was being treated at Sanglah ICU, and died while in treatment. His relatives had signed a letter of payment guarantee, which still has not been paid. Relatives have questioned the billing, saying they do not have the money. I guess the bright side to all this, is Mr Haags isn’t getting any sicker.
Let’s hope the situation is resolved amicably. This is another instance where not having travel insurance, made life (and death) very difficult for people. If you are traveling to Bali, or anywhere else, consider getting travel insurance in case of unexpected incidents.
