Australia to allow Indonesia to respond to any future asylum claims

Australia has decided to allow Indonesia the right to respond to any future claims for asylum. The case of the Papuan asylum seekers angered Jakarta, who felt Australia was ignoring them, and supporting the separatist movement in Papua.

Indonesian President SBY has to say the right things to uphold national face, but he doesn’t want relations to sour. This move is good for Bali, because the last thing we need is an Aussie boycott. Many of the Kuta / Legian businesses are having trouble or have closed, due to the lack of Australians over the last several months. I reckon Australia’s smartest ever move, could be to give Christmas island to anyone who wants it.
