American traveler Andy Walker

A friend of mine has been in town for the last couple of days. Andy Walker from Seattle Washington stopped into Bali for 3 days while working in Singapore.

aug01andy.jpgAndy works for a company that puts on trades shows, they are so good thay are currently touring the world promoting a new Boeing jet. After his Singapore show he has a few days before flying home, so came down to Bali for some excitement. He definitely got it with the current events, but is perfectly safe and totally calm. The situation in my house is that we have my office, baby stuff and sleeping arrangements spread out right now, so I fixed him up with the guest house about 50 meters away called Inada, on Gang Bima. Inada is Japanese owned and that is why I always see Japanese travellers outside, waiting for their transport. It is funny because I had never ben inside until Andy's arrival. At 50,000rp per night, the simple, but clean, fan cooled rooms are very handy for people wanting to stay in Seminyak close to the party scene and the beach.

In the last several months Andy has been to almost all the continents and gets put up in the best hotels, lucky him! I have been showing him around ever since he has been in town and his time has gone fast. Hope the bomb does not put him off coming back sometime.

He is truly a neat person - calm, interested, bright, sensitive, humble - and very good around the kitchen!

Thanks for the compliments, Mary…I’m blushing.

No worries about a return visit, Nick. Three days is not nearly enough to scratch the surface, even with such an expert guide as yourself (wrong turn at Canggu notwithstanding)

This is a weird comment, but I have a friend, Joan Greve, from UW who married an Andy Walker. I’ve been trying to track down Joan for years. Is the Andy Walker who visited Bali the same one who married Joan? If so, I’d be psyched!

Megan,

I don’t think his wife is named Joan.

The Joan Greve you are thinking about is at Stanford University, working on her Ph.D in Engineering. Try looking up the Stanford Website and browse around a little. She is probably still in there.
