A recent investigation of the death of an Indonesian human rights activist claims he was poisoned by the airline food on a Garuda flight. The death of 38 year old Munir Said Thalib, on a Garuda flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam was first thought to be caused by a heart attack. An autopsy later revealed arsenic poisoning. Heavens, I know airline food can sometimes be rough, but at least I always manage to walk off the plane.
President SBY ordered the investigation into the death of the activist who has gathered information on the disappearance of pro-democracy activists in 1998. The 6-month report points the finger at the National Intelligence Agency, BIN, for helping to plan the poisoning. Strewth, I am flying out on Garuda very soon and will look for those little metallic bits in my nasi goreng. Maybe taking a magnet with me and scanning my dessert would be a good idea too. Who would of thought those cute Garuda flight attendants would slip a poor bloke a crook dinner!
Its good that President SBY is taking a lead in tracking down the people responsible and allowing free speech, definitely a good direction for the country.
