Afternoon in Ubud Bali

I rode my motorbike from Seminyak to Ubud and it went pretty smooth. The 20 miles took about 2 hours due to the traffic and getting caught in Denpasar’s one way system which can be quite confusing. I wore my polution mask and was glad I did as the levels of airborne pollutants were up at the top end of the spectrum as usual.

Arriving in Ubud I checked into a small losman ( guest house ) on Jalan Hanuman. They asked for 80,000rp but after 2 minutes negotiation it was down to 40,000. I could have pressed furthur but I don’t want to be too hard.

I checked out the internet cafes here and there are a ton of them. Also prevalent are stores selling artwork, musical instruments locally made and cool cafes. I found one offering wheatgrass juice!

Right now I am sitting in a road side cyber cafe listening to the Beatles….groovy man.

Expecting the arrival of Yumi soon and will take her to a Thai food place. All the shops here are selling tickets for the 7pm Ketcak dance involving 100 particpants. I wouldn’t mind seeing it but I don’t want to be sitting there for hours. Its 50,000rp a pop so I’ll probably pass.

Will post the photos I took on my arrival in Kuta tommorrow or hte next day.

Weather here is changeable with showers coming up here but sunny in the mean time.

Watching a Ketcak dance is worth $50,000. Well almost.
