Bali Business visa rules explained

Okay here’s the deal on Bali Business Visas. This morning I went down to Arjuna on Jl. Petitenget in Kerobokan. They looked closed, I mean permanently closed, probably moved location, and I’m not really that keen to find out where to.

Down in Kuta I bumped into Dallas Finn, founder of Bali Peace Park, the organisation that wants to build a memorial on the site of the Sari Club. We chatted about the supposed new visa laws, he offering to go with me to BaliMode, a place on the loop near the bottom of Jl. Legian. BaliMode handles investment, visas, exports, imports. spoke to their manager Tari, who seemed pretty switched on. She told me Multiple Entry Business Visas were denied extensions, starting 2 days ago. I hate to invoke Murphy’s Law, but don’t you love spending cash for new paperwork, flying to Singapore and spending more money for processing, only to end up with a worthless visa. I will have to leave again in 30 days to apply for a Single Entry Business Visa, which is extendable. AHHHH!!!! The nimrods in Jakarta just love to screw with things and all it does is waste time and money.

There are expats all over Bali who are at this moment, completely unaware of these events. Many people like me will have to rush to get airline tickets and paperwork organized. I guess it could be worse, they could of stopped visa extensions altogether, meaning you either get a VOA, Tourist Visa or KITAS. That really would see the back of many people who live here.

Check out BaliMode for your visa needs.

What a D-R-A-G. You’d think they’d at least set an effective date.

I have a stupid question… since everything is for sale in Indonesia, why not just go to the airport and pay some customs dude to stamp your passport?

Arjuna. Hmmmmm You’ve been ummmm referring to Arjuna for quite some time, always positively, and some of us have been wondering why. Sorry it didn’t work out.

When I have been in Bali I simply got a person at the immigration office to stamp my passport and of course give her some greens. Also, got to know the head of immigration and for two consecutive times while in Bali he took care of it for only a couple hundred dollars when I had overstay of three months. However, Johnny live out his last name is back in Jakarta now.

Always good to know someone to get around the red tape especially the head of immigration.

Thanks for the comments. I used to use Arjuna as they usually got me what I wanted and the staff call me when I needed an extension.

I hear other people giving bakc handers etc. but long term I’d like to do things the right way.

I just spoke to an expat in an internet cafe who picked up his new Business visa a few days ago. He had no idea of the changes and didn’t really believe me. “You just slip someone a backhander” he said. Okay, wait until your 60 days expire.

About Arjuna, your comments are generally always positive; before they pulled out leaving you hanging, that is. Now it seems you got screwed a bit. Maybe if you were a bit more critical ahead of the fact your blog would be more helpful.

Often we hear very mixed messages about the visa status here in Bali. My understanding of the situation is that the law on multiple entry business visa has just be changed to allow 2 months at a time and not as before (2 months then 1 month concurrently). Its somewhat funny as there are so many discrepencies in this area. Time will tell!

Can anyone tell me what the drawback of a KITAS is now? If you have to fly to Singapore 6 times a year it must be getting to the point where the BV will cost more than the KITAS even with the the $1200 Training Tax
