Australia ups travel warning against Indonesia

Bloomberg reports that Australia has up’d its travel warning against Indonesia.

According to the US media source, “The Australian government continues to receive reports showing that terrorists are in the advanced stages of planning attacks against Westerners,” Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said on its Web site.

Australia issued a travel alert on April 20, urging its citizens to “reconsider” visiting Indonesia. Today’s warning maintains the status, which is one notch below a travel ban.

Anti-Western sentiment has risen in Indonesia following the Israeli attack on Lebanon that ended with a cease-fire on Aug. 14 and after Britain last week foiled a plan to smuggle bombs onto airlines bound for the US. Terrorist attacks, avian influenza and natural disasters are hurting Indonesia’s tourism industry, which may generate $5 billion in revenue this year, according to a Dec. 29 government estimate.

The travel alert cited anti-Israel demonstrations, risks of earthquakes and bird flu infections among the risks.”

Part of this is because of John Howard’s and Tony Blair’s backing of the Texas Marshall, who backs Israel. Actually, when you think about it, Australia has no connection with the Middle East. If it wasn’t for a little dwarf, wanting to further his political career, by playing ‘high stakes poker’, most Aussies wouldn’t have a worry in the world. Oh well, its the same for us Brits. ‘Tony the poodle’ has wandered into dangerous territory once again, and dragged Britain with him.
