One of my pet hates is grey cement / building blocks. Was there ever invented a more ugly thing? Not really sure, but I do know that when combined with a rusty corrugated iron roof, it creates the perfect Asian hell-hole’ atmosphere.
My house in Seminyak is tightly packed into a compound along with 4 other houses. Next door there are houses, separated from our parking area by a large cement wall. Over the last few months, another beast has been growing behind it. The owner of the property is erecting a multi-storey building which is fast obscuring the sky and creating a ‘Mahattan afternoon’ effect, where you don’t get enough light. How high this thing will end up to be is anyone’s guess. I just hope they paint it.
