Arriving in Ubud Bali

Arriving in Ubud around 4.30pm, Ika, Jevon and I looked for a place to stay. for me it would of been easy, head to on of the many homestays and get comfortable.

We started off checking out the rooms on Jl. Kajeng, off of Jl. Raya Ubud. The first place we checked out I have stayed before, had nice rooms, but the second floor balcony scared the daylights out of me, when I thought of Jevon climbing on everything. Ika liked the room, I said no.

We checked 3 other places on Jl. Kajeng, Ika did not like any of them, due to the style of the room, or the lack of hot water. Riding down to Jl.Hanuman, we checked out 2 places and settled on Rahayu Bungalows. Its totally fine for me, nice Balnese people, plenty of garden space, chickens running around, simple and clean, with a fridge and stove. I sense Ika would prefer not to be living on top of a Balinese family, it that inter-island thing, but she said even though the room was not to her taste, it had everything.

Its so nice for me to be in Ubud again. Its busy right now, as we’re downtown, but the place is way less intense than Kuta / Seminyak. After getting settled in Rahayu, I rode to an internet cafe on Jl. Raya Ubud, called Satelit Internet Ubud, closing at 10pm, charging 10,000rp per hour. Speed is average, especially when more people come in.

I have to take the fmaily to dinner in 30 minutes.

Hi Nick,My first entry but have been reading bliblog for a few years now and thankyou for the daily news and views it keeps me close to what I perceive my second home. Just wanted to ask further about your observation of the inter island thing. I have had a close relationship with a beautiful man in Bali for some 10 years and have learnt so much of our differences in culture.Differences you cant explain yet respect. We have not talked about the inter island thing but it is so there with him too. What is it ,is it pride privacy or what? Would be intersted to hear your thoughts.
