Anti-Schapelle Corby sentiment at Australian fashion week

Australian Schapelle Corby is in the news again, not because of something she has done, but because of a slogan appearing at Australian Fashion Week.

Schapelle is serving a 20 year sentence in Bali’s Kerobokan jail for drug importation. When her case first surfaced she enjoyed massive support from the Australian public back home, although not here in Bali. Times have changed and a skeptical public is being treated to the slogan ‘Four Kilo Anti Hero‘ at Australian Fashion Week. Bali resident and Australian citizen Nicholas Morley is the designer behind the t-shirts and says he decided to speak out as Schapelle had given Australia and Bali a bad name.

If he really wanted to hammer home that message, he should hand them out at the jail. An Indonesian will never refuse a free t-shirt.

Depending on your camp, this is either a clever piece of marketing or defamation.

Damn good piece of marketing!. I cracked up when I saw it but the only thing cracking in the Corby camp is the whip on their lawyers back!!.

Actually, most people are missing the point. 50% of all sales goes to a Bali Orphanage and that in itself is admirable.

LONG LIVE FREE SPEECH…AND PRINT!

Defamation according to Law.com

defamation
n. the act of making untrue statements about another which damages his/her reputation. If the defamatory statement is printed or broadcast over the media it is libel and, if only oral, it is slander. Public figures, including officeholders and candidates, have to show that the defamation was made with malicious intent and was not just fair comment. Damages for slander may be limited to actual (special) damages unless there is malice. Some statements such as an accusation of having committed a crime, having a feared disease or being unable to perform one’s occupation are called libel per se or slander per se and can more easily lead to large money awards in court and even punitive damage recovery by the person harmed. Most states provide for a demand for a printed retraction of defamation and only allow a lawsuit if there is no such admission of error.

His t-shirts say ‘Four kilo anti hero’. There’s no doubt she carried 4 kilos through customs. His comments say the Corby case has damaged Bali’s economy, which it has, since travel agents in Australia refused to sell tickets to Bali for some time. I’d like to see the Corby lawyers try to sue this guy……….good luck.

I think it is a cheap plot from a hustler. I never believe in kicking a person when their already down. The proceeds to charity crap is just that, crap. Rich people donate to charity, not people making a buck off t shirts.

One of the more celebrated cases of a rich businessman going to jail in Indonesia was that of Eddie Tansil, who was convicted in 1994 for bribing state bank officials to obtain $US430 million in unsecured loans, loans on which he later defaulted. His jailing caused a sensation in Indonesia. Rarely do rich people suffer such an indignity. And when they do, it’s often cosmetic. Several months into his jail term, Tansil was sighted in Bali playing a round of golf. It turned out that he routinely bribed jail warders to let him out for days at a time so that he could run his many businesses and even get away for the occasional weekend. But then, one May day in 1996 Eddie simply didn’t come back.

I have to make a comment on this because this double standard Indonesians makes me SICK!

One more hypocritical story it’s so sick Bali Times Aug.2007

The Australian prisoner Schapelle Corby placed in Bali Prison has a story in the Bali Times showing the world again how Indonesians people and system works!

The story is about the Prison conditions and Improvement needed for Prison!
Everyone can imagine what bad conditions and standard Indonesian Prisons must have; in normal countries with Human Rights the Human Right Department would look into these issues and not need to be discussed, they only need to react and improve the system!

But out of my own experience with the Human Rights department in Jakarta Indonesian they will not do and move until you wake them up and kick there doors in, even then problems will not by addressed as it should be, in regards of Human Rights!

Human Right the point which all Indonesians should have a very!… very! good look at!

But the point I like to get into is the last part of the story on Corby in the Bali Times 24 Aug 2007 which again shows the Indonesian hypocrites and childish primitive revengeful reaction toward peoples which highlighting problems and making an effort and reasonable statements about Indonesian standards!

The whole story is about the conditions in Indonesian prisons that even a dog would not like to stay in this sort off conditions! Then the last part in the story shows the primitive snoopiness and revengeful Indonesian site toward (Humans) Corby because she is only highlighting too the authorities and the world what is wrong from a Human Rights point of view.

Quote Bali Times:
Meanwhile, last week Corby, a onetime beauty student, was not among recipients of remissions traditionally handed out to mark Indonesia’s Independence Day, because she had been caught with a prohibited CELLPHONE!!

Prohibited CELLPHONE?? That must be a new one, because I my self ones had a complain to the Head of the Prison in Jakarta and again to Director General in Jakarta responsible for all Prisons 8 month ago exactly about this point a Indonesian Corruptor Prisoner having CELLPHONES! in Prison, in my case two Prohibited CELLPHONE!! Consequently still disturbing and manipulating the not imprisoned Public!

But what would you think has been done about this after my effort reporting this to the correct authorities! The Head of the Cippinang Prison Sunarto deed take action good! Removed one Prohibited CELLPHONE!! from the Prisoner but forgot about the second one! That’s not all The Head of the Cippinang Prison Sunarto must have given the Prohibited CELLPHONE!! back too this Indonesian Prisoner after two weeks. Because I was again able to contact this Prisoner on this particular HP Number after two weeks.
So my reaction after this was to report it to the highest level responsible for prisons the Director General in Jakarta! All I can say till now I am still waiting for the right action to be taken by the top man the Director General in Jakarta! (What a double standard Indonesians have toward foreigners!)

But you Indonesians can be proud of your self to only implement strict laws toward foreigners and not to your convicted criminal Indonesians!

Indonesians double standard system!
Indonesian Hypocrites!
Indonesian discrimination!
Indonesians jalousie, double standard and ignorance toward foreigners!
Indonesians; Independence Day? (What are they Independence from?)

The only way I can describe Indonesians is they are ignorant children never growing up and not knowing what they doing! Creating hate and destroying there respect? integrity and there future!

This country does not deserve investment tourists and help in any way, again proof too better stay away from the Independent Indonesians!

Good on you Schapelle Corby, keep up the good work informing the world and to get improvement in regards of Human Rights!

I whish so much that your case will be opened up again by the New Attorney General Hendarman Supanji which publicly stated to Australian News Media that he is aware that 4 out of 5 prosecutors in the country are open for corruption! (So let as not forget about the Police where usually the whole process and problems starts on this particular issue!)

What happened in your case with the evidence from the professional points of view was absolutely wrong in the public mind, this is the other big point the Police handling evidence with only there fingerprints all over it, would it be possible that the 4.1 kilograms of Marijuana used as evidence in your case being actually a part of the Polices own drug supply?
But again you are a typical victim of the Sick Indonesian so called System not respecting Human Rights and disregarding there own Laws!

The last point I made about the New Attorney General Hendarman Supanji understanding the problems in this country is taken by me and the International community as positive ( hopefully this are not only words) all are just waiting that action will be taken very soon not only against Corrupt Prosecutors but that cases will be reviewed which are doubtful in nature; and there are many!

================= ************************* =========================

I am also a Victim of the every day criminal corrupt Indonesian Ignorance right up to the top levels! My case I reported to the KPK, Human Rights Department, Secretary of the President and the High Prosecutor see how they will handle my case or not! But the resold will be dramatic for Investment confidence I promise by my life and if it is the last thing I do to protect my and everyone’s Rights!

(KPK Corruption report record Numbers already hit the 20,000 mark, they have a lot of corrupters and a lot of work to do!)

Regard; Mario
