Today I went down to Poppies Lane on Kuta to distribute a few of our t-shirts to high profile shop workers and to get online.
Arriving at Internet Outpost I soon found out that the power was out for the whole of Kuta until sometime later today. That gave me the opportunity to take a bit more time with the t-shirts and talking to people on the street.
On Pantai Kuta I bumped into David and Jackie from Melbourne who I went to the wedding with. Its their last day today and they just got back from Ubud, 20 miles away.
Outside Ronta Bungalows on Poppies II I talked with Nyoman the manager, Ayu and another Nyoman about the bombing trial and the conviction of Amrozi. Nyoman said all the Balinese in Kuta are happy at the result.
Ayu said she’d like to burn Amrozi alive but they will probably shoot or hang him. Nyoman said he wanted the same result for all the other accused and that although the locals might have ideas about how they’d like to carry out the sentence the government has rules.
I asked if they were worried about any further bombings because of the trials and Ayu said people are a little bit worried but they think security is tight so they are okay.
