I have not been keeping up with the happenings in the trail of the the Bali bombers figuring either one of 2 things will happen.
1. Police incompetence will get them acquited.
2. The government will find them guilty ‘whatever’.
I know if Suharto was in power they’d already be well into the afterlife, but Mega’s new Indonesia doesn’t rule with quite such an iron hand.

An interesting article that is the usual Indo journalistic page filler. Says a lot but in reality gives nothing.
Whatever Amrozzi et al receive as a prison sentence (if at all!), surmising they escape the death penalty, then they should serve that prison term in Bali and not in a Javanese prison becuase there they will be treated like kings and it will be a holiday camp for them.
I can’t see them getting off with police incompetence because the eyes of the world are upon these trials and some sort of custodial sentence has to be imposed for appeasement. Having said that, we all know anything could happen. Trouble is the judicial system in Indo is archaic and has more loopholes than Swiss cheese. Trials can take months and lead into years. The Soeharto trial is a prime example.
But I agree with you Nick regarding the Soeharto era. Justice was swift and sure. The new Indo under Mega babe is a different situation. She is not strong enough politically to ensure the aforementioned appeasement.
We can only hope that justice in its purest form prevails and those responsible for such a barbaric act are the recipients of a miserable future whether it be death or a life sentence.

I if could sentence these guys if found guilty I would not execute them, no martyrdom for those guys. I’d make sure they live long lives in a ‘specially prepared situation’ and give all their buddies in JI an idea of what hell on Earth is like.
I say put them in an Aussie maximum security prison.
And let the inmates do whatever they want to these bastards.
