Happy Belated New Years to everybody from myself and my friends at BootsnAll. Let’s hope that 2008 is a prosperous year for Bali, that we avoid natural disasters, other setbacks and really get the tourism industry on track. Everywhere you look these days there seems to be a new warung, new shop, new bar and new accommodation. Its an exciting time.
This is my last post on Baliblog. Baliblog started on January 2003 when Sean and I came to Bali to start this website. Its been 5 years of almost daily posting. I am tired and my perspective has changed from a parachuting traveler, to an experienced Bali Expat. It’s time for me to try some new things and give BaliBlog a fresh perpective. We are all creatures of habit and even myself, a person with an adventurous nature, tends to follow familiar paths on a daily basis.
Baliblog has gone through a few design changes over the last 5 years and has a tonne of nut & bolts info tucked away. BootsnAll editors are working on re-arranging and editting my old content to make more sense for folks that are traveling to Bali. I have helped them get a handle on the over 6500 posts from the past 5 years. Wow, that is a lot of blogging! I pre-wrote a few posts for the next month or so as they sort through all the old stuff and pull out some old gems. As this gets done, we are looking for a new local writer for BaliBlog. If you are interested, please email a sample post or two to nick@baliblog.com. I’m looking forward to the new writer’s perspective.
I’d like to thank everyone for reading Baliblog and especially those people who took the time to comment and visit me while in Bali. For people who are planning to come to Bali, my suggestion is as always are to break out of the Kuta tourist scene and explore the island. The Balinese culture is fascinating and the island full of surprises for those willing to get out there and take a chance.
Please keep reading Baliblog and bare with us as we try to get all of it organized. Your feedback and support for the new writer will be appreciated. People who know me through Baliblog, keep in touch. I’ll probably still be around. ![]()

Hey, I have a great desire to know if the Super Bowl will be on TV Monday morning? I am coming in from Singapore and can watch it on Slingbox but would prefer a bar or lounge to enjoy the GIANTS game!
Thank you Nick,
Your blog has been a tremendous help for me when I first came to the island.
Freddi

Nick:
For me you’re part of the Bali scene, and when I go there in the near future, I’d expect to see you… Too bad if I can’t!
I give a hint to BaliBlog: From time to time, show up with a post so we all will keep track of you. Indeed, everyone’s going to miss you!
Anyhow, good luck wherever you’re heading from now on.
Sampai jumpa lagi!

Nick
all the best to you, Ika and Jevon as you move on to a new phase. Your insights into Bali are truly like gems and I know that I will miss them. Hope Baliblog can continue to keep addicts like me regularly supplied with our daily dose of Bali (my sadness at your post is slightly tempered by the fact that I am about to jump on a plane to Bali!)

I am sad to hear of your departure.
Saya harap kamu selalau bahagia.

Many thanks Nick,
I am a recent arrival on Bali Blog but have looked forward daily to enjoying your insights and perspectives. In the not to distant future I wish to convert my many short stays into a much longer period to become part of the island’s warm and generous people and rich cultural heritage.
Wishing you and your family only the very best for your next life chapter.
Greg.
All the best for the future to you and your family. Lets hope somebody can be found to keep this great blog site going.
Terry.

Nick,
I’ve been to Bali many times over the past ten years and have spent many months/years living on the island during those visits. Now I’m back in New York and have continued to appreciate your posts. While I’m aware that Bali has so much to offer and appreciate, you have been remarkable at sharing those aspects of the island with others. Your posts have covered virtually ALL aspects of the island. You and your posts will be missed dearly, but I think we can all understand that there comes a time in life when we just want and need to move on to bigger and better (and different) things. Nick, I wish you all the best always and thank you for keeping Bali alive for all of us who know what a special and unique place it is!

What? Nick, you must be kidding me. I couldn’t believe that you are leaving Baliblog. It won’t be the same without you. Oh well, the show must go on. Thank you for everything, Nick. Say hi to your family. I wish you all the best.
sorry to hear you are leaving Nick. I have been a reader for nearly 3 years when we were planning our honeymoon to Bali. You blogs on your travels and life were very helpful and convinced me to go to Lovina. Hopefully the next writer will be as top notch as yourself. Good luck and best health to you and your family.
Nick
We have enjoyed reading your information for about the last 2 years and will miss it as a daily persepective on our lives here, in Aus. I agree, we are always trying to branch out into the outer reaches of Bali and are encouraged by your comments. Good luck and enjoy your next adverture with your family.

Your attendance at our wedding was great, chatting with you over the years via baliblog has been awesome, connecting with other Bali addicts through your site too..
Also I am glad we caught up with you (even if it was briefly) when we recently returned for a family holiday (wow so much had changed in our lives from the previous trip) 2 more kids, plus you married & have Jevon…
Life sure does spin in amazing wayS!
I hope yourself, Ika & Jevon have a wicked future full of adventure ahead of you…

Sorry I couldnt help you out, I got enough on my plate!

Bye Nick
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading of your adventures in Bali over the years - I have been a Bali holidayer for over 20 years now but the insight into actually living as against holidaying has been extremely interesting. I wish you, Ika and Jevon the very best for a long and happy life (wherever it may take you). I will be in Bali in June and will keep an eye out for you in your usual haunts in case you are still about. So if a red headed Aussie (slightly older) lady accosts you - don’t be scared.
Kez
Well well Nick i am suprised but totally understand your motives. Five years have passed and a lot of posts have gone through your site.
Well Good luck Nick whatever you try your hand at in life and who knows our paths may still cross one day in Bali.
Thanks
Mark Spark
Hi Nick,
Farewell and best of luck for your new adventures in Bali or anywhere else in this world.
It’s been a pleasure reading your entries for a little over a year now and it helped me prepare my 3rd visit last year.
It was always informative and spot on. Unlike a handbook where the infos are 1 year or more old, yours were always fresh from your daily experiences.
I guess I’ll have to browse the archives for my 4th visit in late 2008 / 2009. I’m confident that a new blogger will take over and keep this website alive, but they’ll never really replace you.
Best wishes to you and your family.
Best of luck, Nick.
Thanks for the valuable narratives Nick. Hope to catch up with you for a cool one in Sanur this June to hear about your next adventure!
Hi Nick,
where are you going?send me a mail.keep in touch.
luca back in bali,
Nick,
I have always enjoyed reading the BaliBlog. Thanks and good luck.
Nick, I’ll miss the daily check in to your blog, as well as the Soprano missives! You had a good run and I had a good time contributing too. Sorry I never made it to one of your BBQs. Best wishes, Richard (aka Duck, Toney (sic), et al.)
Sad to see you go Nick you provided a wonderful source of information about Bali.
I bet Roy is expecting someone to ask him to take over as he knows more than anyone else about Bali!
Oh Nick, sad to see you go but best of luck in whatever you do.
Cheers,
annyf
Now in my second year here i do not read your site as much as I did when I first came or prior to coming.
Thanks for the depth and wealth of your experiences and knowledge. You demystified a number of things in your blog, even what to expect when dating Javanese Girls. Not that I have but i know what to look for now.
Be safe where ever you end up in this world.
Ano
I have been following your blog often to keep in touch with the happenings in Bali. Going to miss all your writes.
Wishing you and your family all the best.
Thanks Nick for the last years, your blog has been really helpful, inspirational and informational. We at Baru di Bali are sad to see you go and we hope the future will bring you lots of new adventures and prosperity!
Regards, Linda & Wouter
