Bali Bombing 2002

Bali Bomb I in 2002 caused a massive amount of human casualties, collateral damage and economic pain for Bali. I arrived in Bali on Jan 2nd 2003, not long after the event. Not knowing where the Sari Club or Paddy’s were, I passed the site many time before figuring it out.

During my first few monthes in Bali I did interview with Balinese and other Indonesian locals who were in some way inviolved. I didn’t know it then, but Ika and her sister Ningrum, were only 20 meters from the Sari Club, inside a taxi, sheilded from harm by the Aloha Surf shop. Hiring one of the staff from Internet Outpost (another Ika), I talked to many people, who were obviously shaken, but glad to be alive.
