Bali bomb site

It was a wet morning yesterday and here's the desk in Sean's bedroom where I was working.

Ika and I talked to some really cool people who shared their experiences with us, including this fellow who took us to the top of his building (across the street are the destroyed lots of a surf shop, then Paddy’s nightclub). The Sari Club is the destroyed lot on this side past the construction.

This young lady told me she had ventured out of her house on Jalan Legian and saw a eerie darkness with injured people all over. Until this week she couldn’t work the evening shift anymore because of the dark.

Seems to have been wet quite a lot since you arrived, is it just the season or is that typical year round for Bali.

Aloha,

Are they making the new Sari Club multi-level? Do you know what it will be called? Any sign of a memorial?

Actually there is no development on the site of the Sari Club right now, only in th lots around it. There has been talk of what will will be put there, some want a memorial other say the location in themiddleof the toursist area necessitates it is re developed as a business.

got back from bali a week before the bomb went off. Since then i have been desperately trying to find out about the situation out there now. What’s poppies 2 looking like and apart from paddys and the sari club what was destroyed?? I will be coming out this summer to catch up with Nyoman and Nyoman in Bingin. If anyone sees them say hi from me and emma!

Just got back from Bali 18/02/03. Tourism only about 15% what it used to be but had a great time and hopeful that it will pick up. As far as the accident site and surroundings, they have a long way to go yet as they do everything by hand. Would like to finish by saying I felt totally safe and without worry, I’d go back tomorrow if I could! The people are really suffering from the loss of tourism and need our support, so get travelling!

Flew back from bali yesterday (13/01/2004). It was very quiet there. Not much tourist there. Cant even see any Japanese there too.

You can hardly see pple walking along the streets at night.
