Many people ask about houses and villas. Sure the holiday villas are well advertised, with silly rates to match. Long term rentals are all over the place too, but are a bit harder to find. Riding up Jl. Legian and checking out the bulletin boards in cafes and warungs used by westerners is a good idea. Another great idea is to rent a motorbike / scooter, and ride down the small gangs (alleys) they crisscross, Kuta, Legian, Seminyak.
You have no idea what you will find down these gangs and behind the nastiest wall can sometimes be the nicest villa. Here is a good example of a sign you might see on the corner of a gang, advertising a villa. I know one villa owner with over 50 properties. Sometimes you knock on a door and that leads to other places. If you are outside a place and there is no doorbell, just do what the locals do, holler “Hello, hello.” Its all cool and no one minds.

I am going to be investigating a rental home, moderate in style and comfort, in the Legian / Seminyak area of Bali and would like to find out how to find one or see what the prices would be for a 2 - 3 bedroom home / apartment.
Any ideas of a link, or contact ?
I just finished a 14 month “around the world” tour and left my heart in Indonesia…
Any comments would be great.
Thanks,
Marc

Nick, do you ever intend on building a house in Bali?? Are do you feel it is best to lease for as long as you stay in Bali??? Just interested in your thoughts regarding this issue. I understand the pitfalls etc. Do you think it is not wise to build or buy. How long do you think you will live there???
i have several villa for sale/rent in seminyak/canggu area…its cheap but really nice, you can compare with other villa and you’ll find my villa is cheaper.
Also you can consult about property in bali (how to buy/rent,build..design,etc…) for free…

My company based in NYC and I will soon be splitting time between Bali and NYC. I will need a place to rent for long term in a few months. I’m looking for a 1br/ single apt. Please let me know if you have something.. thanks!

Hi Gerry
We are moving to Bali, May next year for at least two years. We are keen to find a special place to live while we’re there - somewhere peaceful, private, that opens up to the environment, near shops and that isn’t too far from the airport. At least a two bedroom, with pool, air con in both bedrooms and preferrably near the beach. Locations we like are Jimbaran, Seminyak, Sanur and Caangu.
Are we asking for too much? We’d love to hear your what you think.
Thanks in advance..
Caroline & Nick
