A late afternoon stroll can be a good way to break he mental fatigue and experience new things. This afternoon heading out of my house, one of the first places I spotted was JP’s Warung, a restaurant, bar that has live music, 7 nights a week. On the corner of Jl. Seminyak and Jl. Dhyana Pura, traffic was moving okay, but during the day one can sit and watch traffic jams develop.
Satay (sate) is very popular in Bali and a male vendor offered me a bag for 10,000rp. I told him “mahal sekali” (very expensive) and kept walking. On the bend in the road near the top of Jl. Seminyak is a local market, complete with vegetable stalls and food sellers. I was mobbed by small kids eager to have their photo taken.
Jl. Oberoi is sometimes called ‘Eat Street’, but it could also be called ‘Interior Design Street‘. New places are opening all the time. There is some swishy stuff on display and you might gleane some design ideas, simply by poking your head into a shop.
Outside KuDeTa a gathering of Balinese locals indicated a ceremony was in progress. The temple across the street from KuDeTa is Pura Dalem Kayu Aya, and I later saw that a ceremony had been held on the beach. Pick up trucks full of worshippers were leaving from KuDeTa’s parking lot, the occupants full of good spirits.
KuDeTa has a lovely spot on the coast. This afternoon the wind wasn’t too strong and people were out walking and sunbathing. My route home took me past this lady, who could not manage to get me to buy her sarong.
Okay, that’s a walk in my neighborhood.
