A study group has concluded that introducing Sharia law in Indonesia, will harm foreign investment. God, these guys are smart! Whoever would of guessed, that forbidding women to go out at night, banning alcohol, nightclubs, and generally making the place hard to live in, would affect business?

Indonesia’s Muslims do not want a Sharia state, despite the rantings of extremists. The Jakarta Post reports that the largest Muslim group in Indonesia, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has stated it is not aligned with those more radical elements seeking tradtional Muslim law in certain locales.


 

New draft of criminal code an attempt to curb freedoms

A new draft of the criminal code seeks to make cohabitation a crime, punishable by 5 years in jail. The draft has not been ratified yet and will likely be amended, but forces are at work in Jakarta to push Sharia type laws into existance.

Indonesian womens groups staged protests on Wednesday aimed at Muslim Sharia Law and the anti-pornography bill. The proposed bill isn’t really about pornography, its about imposing strict Muslim codes on the country, written and put forward by a man who seeks to turn Indonesia into a Sharia state.
