Travelling as an Aussie in Bali

Australians really were ones who drove the tourist boom in Bali, with surfers arriving in the 1970’s followed by waves of package tourists.
Kuta Beach was, and still is the epicenter of the Australian tourist scene in Bali, with Tuban to the south and Legian to the north also being favourites.

Playground of the rich, but not so famous, Ku De Ta is celebrating its 6th birthday today. For tohse Seminyak faithful, who have helped Ku De Ta along the way, there is a special dinner tonight, from 7-11pm.

This morning I worked at Joulla’s in Jl. Dhyana Pura in Seminyak. The German restaurant has free internet access and is becoming more popular by the day. While working, I bumped into Deb Bobier and her husband Roger. These globe trotters are yoga fans and have a business importing cool things.

Raja’s restaurant has re-opened in Seminyak. The October 2005 bomb target, now has a massive upstairs location, across the Bintang supermarket parking lot. I went there the other night for some nasi campur.

Sitting here in Joulla’s on Jl. Dhyana Pura in Seminyak, I am using the internet without paying for it. Joulla’s is a new place in town specializing in German and Indonesian food. It is open from 10am -1am.

Made’s Warung in Seminyak is a great hang out place for visitors and expats. Located on Jl. Seminyak on the right side heading north, Made’s Warung has a big sign and a Parkirman outside, assisting drivers to get into the rear parking lot.

Cabe Rawit is an Indonesian restaurant located on Jl. Kunti in Seminyak. The place is never busy, but often seems like a freak show, with very eccentric couples, groups of Indonesian / westerners and various oddballs.

Kafe Warisan - French Restaurant
Kafe Warisan is a Bali tradtional among expats. The French themed restaurant opened in 1997 and has been a roaring success. Located on Jl. Raya Kerobokan, it backs onto rice fields, affording guests a tranquil setting.
