Bali Climate Conference pushes on cleaner vehicles

The UNFCCC (climate change conference) that is currently in progress in Bali has brought up one of the issues mentioned on Baliblog just a couple of days ago, cleaner vehicles. With Bali’s reliance on cars and motorbikes, this is a healthy step. Here’s more form the Jakarta Post.

Organizers at the UNFCCC in Nusa Dua have arranged for 200 bicycle for attendees to use. This together with the shuttle buses that patrol the area will help to reduce CO2 emissions during the conference. Here’s more from the Jakarta Post.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, has said there is no time to waste in addressing world climate change and its associated problems. The UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change) is due to begin in Bali on December 3rd.
Bali Nine drug appeal fails

A constitutional appeal against the death penalty by 3 members of the Bali Nine has failed. The 3, Andrew Chan, Scott Rush and Myuran Sukumaran hoped that Indonesia’s ‘right to life’ law might invalidate their death sentence.

Weather in Ubud Bali

Arriving late friday afternoon in Ubud, Ika, Jevon and I were very comfortable as far as temperature. Ubud is at a higher elevation than Kuta / Seminyak, thus enjoys cooler weather. I wore a t-shirt and a long sleeve Nike shirt, Ika a t-shirt and thin jacket.
