Kuta Karnival: Fun at the beach

This afternoon the sun was shining and crowds of mainly Balinese teenagers gathered on Kuta Beach, in anticipation of what the Kuta Karnival would bring them. Anyone driving along Jl. Pantai Kuta will notice the traffic blockages due to parking and pedestrians.

The Kuta Karnival, the annual event that was inspired by the Bali Bombing in 2002, is in full swing. The event features surfing contests, beach soccer, music on Kuta Beach and a food court at the beach / Jl. Melasti.

Travel industry people in Bali are cautiously optimistic about the future. According to tourist industry consultancy firm, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, “”The outlook for Bali’s tourism and hotel industry remains positive.”
Bali Fashion Week Postponed: Bali

Although not cancelled and rescheduled like the Kuta Karnival was, the 7th Bali Fashion Week has only been rescheduled. The Bali fashion week has without a doubt firmly entrenched itself on the international stage, so to speak.
Kuta Karnival Back on Again: Kuta, Bali

The 4th Kuta Karnival is back on again after it was cancelled in late February. Local businessmen have pushed for the Karnival to proceed despite recent incidents on the island that caused tourist numbers to drop.
Bali tourist industry to get financial boost

Bali’s tourist industry is going to get a shot in the arm in the form of cash, from the Indonesian government. The Culture and Tourism Ministry will be responsible for dispersing the money, which is supposed to be used towards promoting Bali overseas.
