Air Asia giving 1 million seats away!!!

Man is Air Asia going for it in SE Asia! This relatively new airline, based in KL, is offering 1 million free seats, to over 70 routes across Asia. This promotional offer lasts from Jan 10th (today) till Jan 19th. The travel period lasts from April 1st to October 27th 2007.

Jetstar has started its Bali serivce with a flight from Sydney last friday. The AU$409 one-way fare has got to be tempting, for people dying to get back here.

Garuda Indonesia has decided to extend its frequent flyer eligibility, to include residents of countries serviced by the airline’s international routes, including Australia.
Qatar Airways to fly to Bali

Qatar Airways will start a service to Bali, extending its current route to Jakarta. As many people will know, Qatar is an emirate, located in the Persian Gulf. Its economy is based on oil and in recent years there has been a massive effort to modernize.
Smog and Ramadan: A hinderance to air travel in Indonesia

Smog levels in parts of Kalimantan and Sumatra, are so bad at the moment, that 5 airports are closed. Visibility is down to 50-100 meters in places, making landings impossible. Another factor greatly affecting Indonesian air travel right now is Ramadan.

Garuda Indonesia, the national carrier, has plans to cancel Bali as a travel hub. BaliDiscovery reports that this is not yet a foregone decision, but its on the cards.

Indonesia’s national carrier, Garuda Indonesia has been in economic difficulties for a while. The government has bailed them out before, and they still have much debt. I’ve flown on Garuda many times and think they are a decent airline, despite my dramas with them in London.
Arriving in Bali

Arriving at Denpasar airport at around 8.20pm (Bali is the same time as Singapore, but 1 hour ahead of Jakarta), we alighted, and the plane basically split into Visa On Arrival (VOA) and Long Stay Visas (including KITAS and Business).
